Dennis Winfree, Wood Insurance Agency, Inc., Richmond, Va.

Dennis Winfree has been an Iroquois member with two different insurance agencies for almost 20 years.

“Over the years I have developed a great personal and professional relationship with the folks at Iroquois,” said Dennis, “and I trust them to look out for my best interests.”

Iroquois Regional Manager Judy Fox had encouraged Winfree to write more business with Burns & Wilcox.  “I knew that Burns & Wilcox was an Iroquois Specialty Access Market and that I received 100 percent of the commission while getting PartnerPlan® credit from Iroquois”, said Dennis. “In fact, I wouldn’t be at the PartnerPlan® level I am without my Specialty Access production, but we had been working with a number of E&S brokers and I didn’t consider my Burns relationship to be any more important than theirs.”

At Judy’s urging, Dennis contacted Devon Minarik of Burns & Wilcox’s Hunt Valley, Md., office about a tattoo parlor that Wood Insurance wrote through another broker.  “The account was going to be non-renewed by the current carrier because they found out the tattoo parlor owner did breast re-pigmentation for woman dealing with breast cancer.  I learned that the owner performed this service for cancer patients for free, as a public service, and I was determined to help her if I could.”  Enter Mr. Minarik to the rescue.  “Devon really took this to heart.  Not only did he find another carrier to write the account but he convinced Burns & Wilcox to waive their fee in writing it.  Our agency waived its commission as well and together we maintained coverage for the insured but also saved her several hundred dollars.”

“When Devon and Burns & Wilcox went the extra mile for my client, that really changed our relationship,” said Dennis. “We now consider Burns & Wilcox to be an important partner for us.”
